I sing about empowerment, about vulnerability and about the hope that change is possible.
I’m a singer, pianist and songwriter from Lüneburg, Germany. I’ve been playing the piano since I was six. At 19 I spent 14 months hitchhiking around the world with a backpack, learned the guitar on the way and played on the streets in Mexico City, Sydney, Central America and Southeast Asia.
In 2012 I co-founded the French-German band Yalta Club in Paris. Two albums followed, festivals and TV appearances in France and Germany, including ZDF-Morgenmagazin and France 3, and shows opening for Madness, Les Wampas and Dionysos. Since 2022 I’ve been playing solo.
For me, politics doesn’t run alongside the music. I hold a doctorate in political science and I’m a professor of social work at IU International University of Applied Sciences. I founded mosaique – Haus der Kulturen, an integration project in Lüneburg, and Utopia, a start-up centre for social and sustainable businesses. What I experience there ends up in my songs.
On stage I play alone, with guitar, keyboard and a looper that slowly builds a full arrangement. I’ve played mostly in northern Germany and in Paris, at venues like Pan Piper and Péniche Antipode.
